Raising Awareness & Embedding Security Practices
“The training made me feel more confident and aware of my surroundings. It was explained well – including how to work as a team in reporting and recording unusual behaviour or activities, and how to deal with situations to keep yourself and others safe. It was really helpful and I learned a lot. ”

The Objective
BluSkills undertook a security guidance and assessment review for the client, where security was highlighted as an area for improvement. Subsequently, the client wanted to increase the security awareness of their staff, to enhance security measures and ensure compliance across the estate.
Our Solution
Thanks to our background in devising tailored military security training, we were perfectly placed to design and deliver a bespoke programme for our client. The key purpose of this training course was to upskill the staff and tighten up estate security:
Raising awareness & understanding
We delivered security training to the staff on their premises – with the objective of raising awareness of crime, aiding detection of ‘crime pre-incident indicators’ and enabling better understanding of the role they could play in crime prevention.
Compliance & continuity
Our training not only focused around putting procedures into place but also ensuring continuity of practice and conformity across the estate.
Solid reporting process
We reinforced the importance of reporting suspicious activity and why sharing findings with the estate as a whole can reveal patterns in security threats. We also instructed the team how to use the reporting process, which can be done electronically or in a centrally-accessed book.
Embedding learning
Providing records of learning for the client enables them to keep track of the training that has been provided and refresh staff learning through CPD. As our training progresses through theory and practical to continuity and developmental stages, the staff’s learning will be developed and enhanced.
Outcomes & Benefits
Training acts as a force multiplier – more security-aware staff means the security of the estate is greatly enhanced
Some staff members have become highly proactive with regard to security, actively seeking out local incidents and informing the estate, so they can respond to increases in crime or suspicious behaviour
Good security practices introduced across the estate are followed consistently thanks to agreed procedures and polices
Security breaches by trades were detected and reported allowing preventative action to be taken
